This is a new municipality having been created by Executive Order No. 423 on March 14 and was inaugurated on July 1, 1961. It used to be a barrio of Cambangay. Which used to belong to the municipality of Trinidad. It is an interior town southeast of Trinidad eighty six kilometers from the capital. The most important industries of the people are farming, livestock raising and hat and mat weaving. The principal products are rice, corn, camote, cassava, coconuts, chickens, eggs and Romblon hats and mats.
